Kerala Backwaters Tour With South India Temples
Day 1. Arrival At Kochi

Upon your arrival at Kochi airport, a representative of Daily Tour & Travel will welcome you. You will be received with a garland. After that, you will go to your booked hotel, check-in, and rest. As evening sets in, you can visit the local markets of Kochi. There, you will have a wide range of handicrafts, souvenirs, and spices to see. You may roam, have a look at those items, and then take anything you like. After doing the shopping, you will then have dinner in a local restaurant. Then, you will return back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2. Sightseeing In Kochi

After breakfast, your South Indian tour package will continue with a sightseeing tour in Kochi. You will be taken to Kochi Fort first. There you will see Chinese fishing nets. It is a significant part of the history of this place. You can take photographs and learn how they are used. Then you will proceed to the Hill Palace Museum. There are many historical objects in this museum, such as royal jewelry, paintings, and old artifacts. You will be allowed time to go around and see the displays. After visiting these places, you can have lunch at a restaurant serving traditional South Indian food. You will have the chance to taste local food and enjoy your meals. Afternoon is free time to visit the natural beauty of Kochi. You are free to walk around and rest or take photographs. In the evening, you will watch a Kathakali dance performance. Kathakali is an old Indian dance that shows stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata. You will return to your hotel after the show and spend the night there.

Day 3. Travel From Kochi To Kumarakom

After breakfast, you will head towards Kumarakom with our representative. There are backwaters. When you get there, you will rest in your hotel room for some time. Afterward, you will enjoy a cruise through the backwaters. On this boat trip, you can see the silent and peaceful surroundings of Kerala's backwaters. On your return, you will also visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. You will be able to see several birds. There you can find many local and migratory bird species. In the evening, you will be taken to the Ayurvedic resort in Kerala. You can opt for an Ayurvedic massage that is done using herbal oils. This is one of the most common practices in Kerala. You can dine at one of the famous restaurants in Kumarakom. You will taste food prepared in Kerala style. After dinner, you will go back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4. Exploring Kumarakom

On the fourth day of your long weekend tour package in Kumarakom, you will visit more places. After breakfast, you will go on a boat ride. You can see many different birds, including some rare ones, during the ride. You can also try fishing if you want. You will see many old and historic places during your boat ride. This tour also includes a visit to Vembanad Lake, the largest lake in South India. You can enjoy the quiet surroundings and the lake view. In the afternoon, you will receive an Ayurvedic massage that is very useful for your body. For dinner, you can enjoy different types of Kerala cuisine flavored with locals. After having dinner, you will return back to your respective hotel and retire there for the night.

Day 5. Travel From Kumarakom To Periyar

On the fifth day of your South Indian tour package, you will travel from Kumarakom to Periyar after eating your breakfast. When you reach Periyar, you will then check into your hotel and then rest if you want. Then afterward, you will also go to backwaters in Thekkady, Kumily, and Periyar. These places are peaceful and good for nature lovers. After this, you will go to Periyar National Park. This park is quite famous in India and contains several wild animals like tigers, leopards, elephants, and deer. You will like to see nature and wild animals while you are there. You will tour the place and see these wild animals in action. After that exciting day of seeing the beasts in their real habitat, return to your hotel. Dinner would be served and you would rest overnight at your hotel.

Day 6. Travel From Periyar To Madurai

After your breakfast, the representative from Daily Tour & Travel will drive you to your next location which is Madurai. Madurai is in the southern part of India and it is famous for its traditional and historical temples. On reaching this place, you can check into your hotel and rest if you like. Later in the day, you can go to the temple of Meenakshi Sundareshwar, which is dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareshwar, also known as Shiva. Here, you are free to look around and admire the architecture of this place. Then, you can have your lunch at one of the best restaurants in Madurai. You can totally taste different South Indian food if you prefer. Then after this, you will visit Azhagar Kovil which is also known as Alagar Temple devoted to lord Vishnu, around 21 km from Madurai. In the evening, you can go roaming in the local market and also buy memorable souvenirs if you want. After this, you can go for dinner in one of the good restaurants. Later, you will return to your hotel and stay there for the night.

Day 7. Travel From Madurai To Trichy

On the seventh day of your South Indian tour package, you will be taken from Madurai to Trichy. After your breakfast, a representative of Daily Tour & Travel will drive you to Trichy. After reaching, you will check into a hotel and rest for a while. Later, you will visit the famous temples of Trichy which include Srirangam Temple, Ayyappan Temple, Samayapuram Temple, Athmanathaswamy Temple, Gunaseelam Temple, and Thiruvellarai Temple. In the evening, you will be free to visit the local market of Trichy. Here you can buy souvenirs and traditional items. Then you can dine at a reputed restaurant at Trichy. After dinner, you have to return to your hotel and rest & prepare for the next day.

Day 8. Trichy To Tanjore

After your breakfast, you will be taken to Tanjore, a land of temples, history, and more, by one of our representatives of Daily Tour & Travel. Then you check into your hotel for some rest. Famous places in Tanjore include Sri Bragadeeswarar Temple, Royal Palace, Art Gallery, Royal Museum & Serforji Memorial Hall, Tholkappiyar Sadukkam, Sangeetha Mahal, and Punnai Nallur Mariamman Temple. You can take a round around the local markets in the evening to purchase some handicrafts and souvenirs. You will have dinner and stay the night at the hotel.

Day 9. Tanjore To Pondicherry

Do you know that Pondicherry is a town in India which has the cultures of both India and France? After your breakfast, you will be taken to this place to visit important cultural and historical places like Jalaram Temple, Thirunallar Temple, Varadaraja Temple, Masthan Saheb Dargah, etc. There are many other attractions in Pondicherry. Afterward, you'll return to the hotel and have some rest time. You can spend the evening by visiting shopping areas, including malls and branded showrooms, to buy souvenirs, clothes, and local specialty items. Later, you will have dinner at your hotel and rest overnight.

Day 10. Pondicherry To Mahabalipuram

After breakfast, you will take a drive to Mahabalipuram. This is about 132 kilometers, and it is going to take you about 4 to 5 hours from Pondicherry by road. On arrival, you will get checked into the hotel and relax for some time. In the latter half of the afternoon, you will visit Shore Temple and Mandapas. Both are historical monuments and architectural delights. Visit the temples, then you can have dinner in a local restaurant. Then, you will go back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 11. Exploring Mahabalipuram

On this day, you will spend the whole day exploring Mahabalipuram and nearby places. After having your breakfast, a representative from Daily Tour & Travel will take you to visit famous temples and monuments. You will see Arjuna's Penance, which is a large rock carving, and Pancha Pandava Rathas, five stone temples. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit well-known caves. In the evening, you will see Krishna's Butterball. You can go sightseeing, have dinner at a restaurant that is popular, and return to your hotel for the night.

Day 12. Mahabalipuram To Chennai – Departure

This is the last day of your long weekend tour package. After having your breakfast, Daily Tour & Travel will organize your journey to Chennai, as it is 58 miles away. From the Chennai airport, you would begin your journey back to your home. This is the end of your South Indian tour package sponsored by Daily Tour & Travel.
